Additional Information : Irene Stevens became chief designer at Webb after Herbert Webb retired in 1946. These are quite simply stunning. The ripple design was a theme used by many in the British glass industry from the 1930s to the immediate post war period. Sherdley have wave patterns in their 1938 catalogue and wave and chevrons were a consistent design theme for Davidsons pressed glass and lalique “Meandres” in the same decade.
These would be better described as modernist rather than deco. however. we have to put them soemwhere on the web site and this seems to be a good fit
