Colour : Opaque pale amber with chestnut brown and bronze coloured leaves
Marks : Signed on the body ‘Galle’
Body : Bulbous from with a narrow solifleur neck. Cameo ‘cut back’ technique. This gives great depth to the orange leaves flowers. The shape is often described as “banjo”
Pontil : Polished
Glass Type : Lead
Size : 14.4cm tall with a bowl of 2.5cm and base of 4.2cms

A cameo vase designed by Émile Gallé. Gallé himself was a keen artist. his glass is considered to be one of the major forces in the french Art Nouveau movement. His “Writings on Art” which was released posthumously in 1908 gives a clear insight into his design ethos. This example was designed before his passing in 1904.
