Tapered cut glass with vertical cut lines supporting polished grapes. The silvered top has some polished sections within the design and windown through to the glass beneath. The frames within the cut sections support vine leaves. An excellent design.

Condition : Very good, some wear to the silver plate see below

This is the finest WMF silvered claret just that we have offered for sale. The design has a blend of influences from the geometry of the Bauhaus to the naturalistic curves of the Jugendstil.

This is marked beneath the handle. B, hatched beehive with ostrich lozenge above letter G, IO OX

The B denotes this has a rare Britannia metal base ( pewter with a high level of tin). This specific "lozenge in beehive" mark ws used between 1909 nd 1914 on uitems intended for export to France. I/O denotes silver plating and OX an "oxidised" finish, rather than bright polished
