The oak leaf stems from the story of Charles II hiding in an oak tree to evade capture from Cromwell’s men in 1651. The star was seen as an omen of good fortune as it was said that a new star was observed for the first time on the night Bonnie Prince Charles was born. Fiat has a dual significance meaning ‘may it come to pass’ but is also the equivalent of the word ‘Amen’ deriving from Hebrew for ‘may it be so’.
