Description
A superb Renaissance style Claret Jug which dates to around 1910.
It is encased by a Gothic or Renaissance metal cagework. This is woven into scrolls decorated with putti. an angel and a rams head below the spout.
This is in exellent condition and there is no damage to the cagework or glass. This is German in origin although it is unmarked. Drawings and descriptions of the same piece are in the WMF catalogue for 1906. It has its original stopper and of all the examples we have had in the past this is without doubt in the finest condition. unlike Gray-Stan glass these were never made to deceive. it is an honest “reproduction.
It measures 8 1/2 inches tall which includes the stopper.
