This has many attributes of Webb glass post war and those optical pieces designed by Irene Stevens and those from Orrefors. It is a weighty and robust example that will not easily be knocked over when filled. Many thanks to Dr Colin Sutherland. our Frank Thrower fan for the identification.

Londoner Thrower worked for Wuidart with Ronald Wilson before taking up glass design having spent soem time selling pottery of al things. He co-founded Dartington glass in 1963 and was evidently influenced by Swedish design of the time. We are also advised that Frank was a bit of a ladies man. blessed with good looks and charm as wel as business acumen.

Dartington is now the last major glassware producer in Britain.
