Condition : Matt mossing on raised areas on the base. This has ben applied, it is not natural wear

This is direct copy of those produced in the early 19th century. Please note the brightness and clarity of the glass. The glass is also considerably thicker than the genuine period equivalent.The "strap" handle is also too thick and is a little rounded on both broadest surfaces.

Most major factories had a line of Georgian style glass, these were never intended to deceive. Those prodced for Hill Ouston can be very convincing and those made by Gray-Stan were intended to deceive and indeed did fool the major auction houses for many years. The irony is that the Gray-Stan forgeries are now more highly sought after than the originals
