We have never seen an example like this before. The glass does not stand upright on its foot. only on the rim. There is some limited wear on the rim and a few scratches on the body. The glass is clean. there are no inclusions and it is bright.
The CAMRA and SPBW member in residence and self proclaimed “research based beer expert” says that this would be ideal for beer festivals. It has a one pint capacity with room for a head. He has seen large boots being sold at Oktoberfest but never a glass with toes. In my experience of beer festivals I would be astounded if anyone remembers very much at all.
Antique drinking glasses in the form of boots are known from the 16th century. 18th and early 19th century snuff boxes were made from glass in various shoe and ladies boot shapes.
