We have been waiting for one of these fellows to come along. These are frequently sold as being anything form mid 18th century to early 19th century bottles. These were produced in both Holland and France almost continuously from the 19th century up until the second war, only the method of production changed
. The necks and rims on early examples were made separately and inserted into the bottle. The fused joint between the bottle and neck is prominent. On the early examples the top of the bottle is domed.
In this later example the top has four flat sections with a ridge between each. The neck has been made from the same piece of glass as the bottle simultaneously.
This is still a lovely bottle and ideal for the dressing table, it has the period look and feel, but not the associated cost and fear of damage.
