Description: Rare openwork viking amulet pendant dedicated to the Pagan cult of the Norse Sea Serpent. The sales are represented in the decoration and the piece is nicely patinated. The suspension loop is intact.
Size and Weight: 18mm x 20mm. 7.74g
Features and Provenance: The interweaving flow of the metalwork. in this lovely amulet. possibly represents the movement of Jormungandr. the Midgard Serpent also known as the World Serpent in Norse mythology. who encircles the realm of Midgard (Norse middle kingdom or the home of mankind). Amulets were worn as a good luck charm and to show respect for their gods.
