The ancient city of Terina was located in Calabria at the foot of Italy. At one point the city was overthrown by Bruttians in 356/5BC, about the time this coin was struck. Later, Terina became a Roman possession but was later destroyed by Hannibal in 203BC and disappeared into history. It’s whereabouts were later re-discovered by archaeologists in the early 20th century, after a gold diadem was found, which resides in the British museum to this day, along with coins and other artefacts.
