Omar Ramsden was one of the finest silversmiths this country has ever produced. Born in Yorkshire the son of a Sheffield silver engraver he was destined for a career in metalwork. No one could have predicted how far Ramsden would go. During his apprenticeship he took evening classes at Sheffield School of Art and became comfortable in and familiar to a more intellectual circle than that into which he was born. After moving to London he established himself among the fashionable set and became internationally renowned for his ground breaking designs.
