French Silver Art Moderne Lidded Dish c1925

Heading : French Silver Art Moderne Lidded Dish
Date : c1925
Period : Art Moderne

Marks : Bears the standard Minerva mark in an octagonal reserve (no letters) and a small indecipherable diamond-shaped maker's mark
Origin : France

Decoration : Hammered finish to bowl which sits on an abbreviated cylindrical foot with concentric rings; shallow, circular lid which sits inside a flared rim and has a round animal bone handle on a collar with rings to mirror the foot
Size :  Height 8.2 cm , 11.3 diameter cm
Condition : Very good; two small dents to the lid rim and lip and a tiny puncture mark to the foot rim, which is also a little out of shape
Restoration : None
Weight :  144 grams

Note : our best guess with regard to the maker's mark would be Maison Block-Eschéweg, based on the fact that the same manufacturer produced other small, round bowls with a textured finish of the same size.
