The beaded decoration on the foot is quite a rarity on Georgian silver tankards. It is a recurring decorative theme with Charles Wright. It has always concerned us that some refer to silver tankards as "silver mugs". Strictly speaking a tankard is a mug with a handle. Tankards may also be lidded or covered.
