Heading : An Early Victorian Sterling Silver Teapot
Date : Hallmarked in London 1846 For Joseph and Albert Savory
Period : Victoria 1846

Decoration : Reeded band. Copper script engraved IR. Scroll terminal on the handle has an additional small foot
Size :  Height 13.5 cm to top of the handle. 17cms diameter
Condition : Very good. Some light signs of use. no dings. Pours very well
Restoration : None
Weight :  618grams ( 19.8 troy)

This form of teapot was based on the Chinese wine pot but evolved into it’s own European style. The squat oval shape and wide base of the spout is entirely classical and resembled Roman oil lamps. this was the height of fashion in the early nineteenth century.
