Early 20th century chromed Champagne tap with ebonised handle c1910.
This example has a central drilling spike ( a trocar) which is removed once the outer tap has been fully screwed into the cork. The spike is removed by unscrewing the handle. The tap on the side is turned to allow Champagne to flow without loss of gas from the rest of the bottle. This has been tested and it works extremely well.
