Botanical themes became a firm favourite at Derby when copies of Curtis’s Botanical Magazine arrived in 1791. Some years later the factory also purchased a a copy of water colourist John Edwards’ tome “A collection of Flowers”. This was a more naturalistic style than that observed in Curtis.
