Description
This is stunning. A wide border painted with enamels comprised of a ground of green dots and quatrefoil-shaped compartments . Painted inside and outside with sprays of roses. Derby crown and crossed batons mark in red . carefully painted and indicative of earlier of higher quality production in the period 1805-25. Painters and gilders marks. number 29 painted in grey on the foot string 26 in red. Double gilded dentil rim. A quality piece from the day it was created.
We have found one other example in the collection of he V&A museum number 414:462-1885. the bequest of Lady Charlotte Schreiber on which many of the green enamel dots are missing. There is some light rubbing to the gilding and some minor surface scratched to the base of the bowl. no chips. cracks or restoration. 9 1/2 inches diameter
