Marks : Iron red painted crown. crossed batons and different name on each plate – ‘View Near Naples’ and ‘View In Cumberland’; small numeric 22 (in grey) to both. near the foot rim
Origin : Derby; England
Colour : Polychrome image within extensive gilt decoration to cavette and rim
Features: Naples shows two gentlemen walking towards a ruined castle on a distant hill; Cumberland shows a couple walking along a rutted road. away from further ruins
Condition : Minimal gilt loss to both; Cumberland has some tiny nibbles to the base rim and a non-separated crack through the body from the centre of the well to the rim. visible from both sides; Naples is sound in form. but has a small patch of light brown enamel under the glaze to the polychrome image within the leaf-covered branches of a tree
