Heading : First Period Worcester “Boy On A Buffalo” Teapot
Date : 1755 – 1765 – most likely toward the early part of this range

Marks : None
Origin : Worcester. England
Colour : Black monochrome on white base
Pattern : Boy On A Buffalo – both sides conforming to the usual format with two sampans pencilled in black
Condition : Very good; there is an unseparated crack through the flange (11mm) and one around the circumference of the inside of the lid rim; minor kiln spit to the base and the tiniest of nibbles to the uppermost extremity of the lid finial.
Restoration : Very small chip to the tip of the spot restored at our request. visible with UV.
Dimensions : 19.2 cm long (tip of spout to rear of handle); 13.9 cm high; 12.8 cm diameter at widest point

References: The Dictionary of Worcester Porcelain (John Sandon 1993); page 81 – Sandon’s notes and images indicate that our teapot has an original lid. as identified by the profile of the finial; however. in spite of this. we should draw your attention to the fact that the lid is noticeably whiter than the body but it fits perfectly
