Worcester Blue Scale Junket or Salad Dish c1770

The Georgians had a sweet tooth! Junket was made with sweetened milk and rennet and was often flavoured with orange or apple. We can vouch that it works well with strawberries and is simply delicious!

Soft-paste porcelain junket or salad dish. painted with scale-pattern in mirror and vase. The deep circular dish has a fluted out-turned rim. with scalloped edge with sixteen intersections. The central well is indented with a gilded scalloped-edge. Two large gilt scroll-edged panels painted with floral festoons. separated by two smaller panels. and with four similar vignettes at the gilt-banded rim. Square seal mark. 24.5cms diameter approx. No chips. cracks or restoration and only very minor wear to the gilding in two short sections of the rim as highlighted in the photographs.
