Description
A first period Worcester fluted dessert plate c1770
Decorated at the London atelier of James Giles with a central fluted urn draped with garlands of polychrome flowers with a formal gilded border within a mazarine blue border gilded with fruiting vines and leaves. No chips or cracks however expert analysis reveals that the gilding has been improved to cover areas in which it has rubbed. It is typical of giles gilding to show age related wear. Crescent mark 21.5cms diameter approx.
Other examples are available from Chris Jowitt of Warner Antiques and we have no hesitation in recommending him if you are looking for a pristine unrestored example. His stock is exemplary and always of the highest quality.
