Produced at either the Brownlow Hill factory (c1761-1767) or the Park Lane factory (1767-1773) James Pennington occasionally embellished underglaze blue patterns with a vivid red and gilt.
The decorative combination was also adopted in later years by his younger brother Seth at his Shaw’s Brow factory also in Liverpool and in about 1778-1785
