Pattern : Christian’s take on a popular chinoiserie pattern which had previously been produced by both the Bow and Worcester manufactories; a seated female character holds a flower in front of an eager child. with both being watched by a mandarin standing next to a tall table and a bench; surprisingly. the enduring composition does not appear to have been afforded a name. either by its producers or those who collect their work…
Condition : Good to fair; the saucer has two flaked chips to its rim. both of which have had the border repainted over; the coffee can has kiln spit to the inside of the well. along with a lump of clinker. and a 3mm hairline crack through the rim
Restoration ; retouching as noted above
Dimensions : coffee can 6.6 cm high x 6.1 cm diameter – saucer 2.9 cm deep x 12.8 cm diameter
