Description
A New Hall Cup and Saucer. pattern 1092 dating to 1814-19
Pale blue ground broken by circular cartouches edged in gold containing polychrome rural prints.
Very faint hairline to the inside of the cup as shown which cannot be seen externally. This has been professionally stabilised by the well known restorer Helen Wild. There is also a 3mm long firing crack in the surface of the ring handle. This is stable.
We have also included a picture from ‘Newhall Porcelains’ by Geoffrey A. Godden page 56 plate 67 which shows pieces from a Newhall bone china tea service of London shape with the same pattern number.
Further references can be found in the book ‘A Guide to Newhall Porcelain Patterns’ by A.de Saye Hutton’ page 151 plate 119. This is without doubt one of the most decorative patterns produced by New Hall.
