Gilded roses with puce acanthus leaves and red foliage and flowers within a gilded band. Pattern 889

Features: Bute shaped teacup, hand painted with a floral pattern and highlighted with gilding.
SizeTeacup: 5.9 cm tall by 8.5cm. Saucer: 14.4 cm in diameter
Condition: Excellent; gilding unworn, with a little extraneous gold enamel to the underside of the cavetto; tiny patch of kiln spit and a very minor manufacturing imperfection towards the foot of the cup
Restoration: None
Weight: 221 grams
 

Notes : The handles are a typical Spode loop form; Michael Berthold dates the pattern to 1805-1806, and this is entirely consistent with the form and vibrant polychrome, Regency decoration
