Condition : Excellent. There is a firing flaw under the gilt on the upper foot

Additional Information : See Geoffrey Godden Staffordshire Porcelain page 256 plate 395 and page 256 for a discussion of this vase during which Mr Godden explains that in previous years he had mistakenly attributed it to the Daniel factory based on the  quality of the  flower painting and gilding. The examples illustrated bore the pattern numbers 1042 ,the lesser 1040, and formed part of his legendary reference collection. During further research he recognized that the pattern number did not fit the known Daniel sequence but did tie in with that of Hicks and Meigh of circa 1820.
