This stylish coffee set was commissioned by arguably the most famous shop in the world, Harrods of Knightsbridge.  The stark contrast between black and gold is typical of the crossover from Art Nouveau style to the Art Deco .  The finely painted borders are a nod to the old movement and the two tone background a nod to the new.

It would appear that apart from the sugar bowl this set has never been used. The diminutive proportions and gold bowls of the demitasse cups make it perfect for lovers of espresso.
