Christa Gaa was born in Hamburg and trained at the Fachhochshule für Kunst und Design in Cologne. She had a somewhat tragic romantic life. falling in love with the great British artist Ken Howard. Howard was deemed unsuitable by her parents and she was married to another for 20 years. Howard and Gaa found each other again and married. but Gaa sadly died two years later. Her work has been widely exhibited internationally and she is noted for her domestic Still Life work. of which this is a fantastic example.
