Additional Information :
Peter La Cave was born in Amsterdam and belonged to a family of French artists working in Holland. In around 1789 he moved to England to seek his fortune and painted rural scenes primarily in Suffolk and Norfolk before moving to Yorkshire and painting the areas around Leeds. This foray north ended badly for Peter as he was found dead in a barn which he had sought shelter from a storm in. There were however reports of his reppearance some years later but this appears to be a case of mistaken identity.
