Eric Knowles Comments
From a series of several dancers this figure encapsulates Colinet’s talent for capturing the theatrical and exotic with the choice of costume echoing those designed by Leon Bakst for Diaghilev’s ballet Schererazade performed by the Ballet Russe with harem pants popularised by the couturier Paul Poiret. For an image of this figure cast entirely in bronze See Art Deco and Other Figures Catley B Page 121 plate centre top. Claire was a sensational sculptor.
