The Navy List has been published by the Admiralty since atleast 1767. It is a list of officers, their rank and the  ships on which they serve. It also documents all manner of rules and regulations. The dress code for an 18th century Admiral specifies that their dress buttons will bear "an anchor with cable and crown above with wreaths of oak leaves". A true symbol of the wooden walls of England.
