A wheel engraved tumbler for the Independent Order of Oddfellows. A weighty tumbler with a generous two thirds of a pint capacity it has no fewer than twelve masonic symbols set within the shield and crest. We have been unable to positively identify J Armfield nor his trade.
The Independent Order of Oddfellows, a splinter group from the Free Masons, was formed in Manchester in 1810 amongst tradesmen. This Friendly and Benovelent Society are still doing noble work to this day.
