This hand blown Georgian deceptive drinking glass. or sham dram. has a knopped stem. conical foot. and thick glass deceptive bowl. Of all the 18th and early 19th century glass styles this is one of the most interesting. In order to avoid embarrassingly slurring their way through a toast. toastmasters would use such glasses to give the impression that they were drinking a full glass along with those in attendance.
