Heading : An Early 19th Century Firing Glass
Origin : England c1820
Colour : Clear 
Bowl : Funnel. no prominent pucella marks
Stem : Short plain
Foot : Thickened conical
Pontil : Broad polished and off centre
Glass Type : Lead 
Size :  9cm height.  5.5cm diameter bowl. 6.9cm diameter foot 
Condition : Excellent. no chips or cracks. Some light and very fine scratches inside and outside the bowl
Restoration : None 
Weight:  165grams 

All the standard texts give date ranges from 1740 to 1780 for identical forms. We believe this to be too narrow a date range. The broad slightly ovoid polished pontil is a feature of many early 19th century glasses.
