This handblown Georgian deceptive drinking glass. or sham dram. has a knopped stem. conical foot. and thick glass deceptive bowl. Of all the 18th century glass styles to have been lost this is one of the most interesting. In order to avoid embarrassingly slurring their way through multiple toasts. a toastmaster used such glasses to reduce the volume consumed.
