Bowl : A double ogee bowl. with an abbreviated. solid base and engraved with wheat ears. vine leaves and tendrils
Stem : Capstan knop under a thin annular collar knop
Foot : Conical
Pontil : Snapped
Glass Type : Lead 
Size :  8.8 cm height.  5.9 cm diameter bowl. 6.4 cm diameter foot 
Condition : Excellent. no chips. cracks or flakes; tiny bubble inclusions to the bowl and collar knop 
Restoration : None 
Weight:  144 grams 

Note : The engraving on this glass was initially a bit of a puzzle. looking at first glance like the standard ‘hop leaves and barley’ fare which adorned many beer glasses of the day. Closer inspection. however. revealed that the ears are of wheat. not barley. as they have no awns – also. the capacity is minuscule for even the strongest of beers. If we take the leaves and tendrils to be those of the grapevine rather than the hop plant. however. and consider the existence of Regency wheat brandy in to account. everything falls in to place; ithis was a strong potation. best served in small doses…
