Georgian Engraved Ovoid Bowl Rummer c1770
Sir Frederick Ashton the former director of the Royal Ballet was a keen collector of Georgian glass. This particular glass was is from his collection at Chandos House. It has a good grey-blue hue associated with high lead content glass. The bowl is ovoid and is generously proportioned. It is engraved wit the initials “JD “ in copper script surrounded by flowering Hops and Barley and two birds in flight.
It stands 5 7/8 inches tall with a 3½ inch bowl and a 3 3/8t inch conical foot wit a snapped pontil. Immaculate condition
