Notes:  A well-balanced piece that sits nicely in the hand. and oozes historic Lancastrian provenance – snap it up quickly before Eric catches sight and annexes it under his ‘professional northerner’ entitlement ! The Rochdale canal was beset by problems from the moment it was conceived in 1776. Local Mill owners objected and made representations to Parliament through fear of losing water flow to power their mills. The first section opened in 1799 but was not fully opened until some four years later.
