HMS Cesar. originally the César was a French vessel captured by HMS Indefatigable off Rochefort in July 1806. The ship was deemed “fit for His Majesty’s Service” and thte Royal navy took her into service. Less than a year later she was driven ashore near the Gironde and nearly half the crew died.
