Features and Provenance: The First Jewish Revolt (AD 66-70) was the result of a long series of clashes in which small groups of Jews offered sporadic resistance to the Roman rule in Judaea, who in turn responded with severe countermeasures. In AD 66 the Jews combined in revolt and expelled the Romans from Jerusalem, but by AD 70, Jerusalem fell to emperor Nero and his Roman armies. These coins were produced by the rebels as a of underground or sub-currency and obviously a type of propaganda.
