References : The original Kit-Cat club tooks its name from Christopher ( diminutive form ‘Kit’) Catling and the first recorded references to the club are with this exact spelling. He was London innkeeper at the venue used by the members and the fare included mutton pies known as Kit’s Cats.
This is not to be confused with the name devised by Rowntrees of York for a cholcolate bar or various cabaret venues Kit-Kat
