Additional Information : This is the epitome of 1940s style. The leaf vase was designed by Clyne Farquharson for the John Walsh Walsh Glass Company of England. Farquharson joined the design team at Walsh in 1924 having graduated form the Birmingham school of art. His first dated pieces are from 1936 and he remained with the factory until the end of the Second World War. The company did not restart art glass production after the war ended and ultimately closed in 1951. William as he was known as a child adopted his grandmothers maiden name ‘Clyne’ to brand his designs. He was highly regarded by the Walsh factory becoming chief draughtsman at 18 years of age and being given the honour of having his name associated to the pieces he designed.
