The Legras glassworks proved to be a highly successful concern during the late 19th and early 20th century that called upon the talents of several hundred employees at the St Denis glassworks located in the suburbs of Paris.
Founded by Francois Theodore Legras who had worked as a woodsman in the Vosges region close to Strasbourg, this hand enamelled vase offers an obvious understanding and empathy with that very landscape. The simple freehand composition achieves an understated effect whilst other versions were available that featured the other seasons.
All Legras art glass was signed as is this stunning example, one of the finest we have seen for several years. The depth within the image portrayed is remarkable
