Mauchline is best known for its association with The Scottish Bard. Burns produced his best work when resident.
Some early Mauchline ware tartan snuff boxes can be quite charming and can occasionally rival the output of Tunbridge Wells. Prior to the factory burning down in the 1930s (do not come tomorrow we are having a fire according to some accounts). they produced tourist wares for multiple locations all over Britain and Ireland. Useful decorative keepsakes that were vastly superior to the imported plastic junk sold at the Britsh seaside in the modern day.
