Description : Rectangular box with curved. square-ended lid; opens to reveal four stepped document trays. a curved pen tray and three compartments for business cards or similar.
Decoration : To the lid. a central butterfly mosaic set in to rosewood veneers; bounded with banded and continuous key-line stringing and a broad. floral/foliate frieze in the manner of Berlin wool-work; to the four edges of lid the box body. a seven-square geometric pattern band. and another broad frieze of alternating leaves. all with the obligatory continuous and banded stringing; no internal decoration; working lock and key.

Condition : Almost flawless; some very fine separation gaps between the panels on the friezes. and stress ridges (not separated) along the grain of the curved lid reserve

Note : This was an specially-commissioned presentation piece. and there is an engraved brass plaque set in to the underside of the base. along with a smaller named and dated ‘maker’s plate’. This is perfect for the home office!
