The parquetry design used on this item was very popular with Tunbridge Ware manufacturies during the early part of the 19th Century. The wood used for this box has a lovely sheen and the tesserae on the lid that make up the ‘perspective cube’ design and the geometrical banding reflect the golden hues of the natural woods. The lid has a tiny. turned wooden knob handle.
