Decoration : The flat lid has a central panel of a floral Berlin Wool-work pattern set within two continuous and one banded keylines; rosewood veneers separate this from a seven-square geometric pattern band. within two pairs of banded and plain keylines; the four square sides of the box have a narrow floral band within the same two pairs of keylines – the tesserae being used to construct this band being very slightly larger than usual. and including tiny patches of four green oak tesserae to each flower centre. The interior lined with original lining paper
Size : 25.4 cm wide – 9.8 cm deep – 6.8 cm high
Condition : Excellent; hardly any tile-loss; minimal separation along some joints between decorative sections and some pitting to the lacquer; some age-spots to the lining paper and a small loss to the base-wood adjacent to one hinge fitting (invisible externally)
Restoration : Professionally cleaned and polished
