Decoration : A floral motif inset to a golden satinwood ground on the lid; enclosed by four continuous keyline strings; the whole set within broad darkwood veneer and a nine-square geometric band within banded keyline strings; all four sides with plain darkwood veneer (coromandel – more likely ebony); the floral motif and geometric banding feature many green oak tesserae in several colours – Barton’s signature touch; interior with original lining paper (minimal staining); original textured paper and manufacturers label to the base

Condition : Excellent; one or two missing tesserae; two small areas missing the veneer to the edge of the lid; tiny area of stained lacquer to one corner; box solid; no key
