Decoration : Inlaid marquetry geometric design within keylines.
Size :  12×6.3×4.3cm
Condition : Excellent. no missing tiles. very light wear to base. There is a negligible amount of lifting to the mosaic. The original floral paper still visible under the lid. it apears to have been velvet lined at some point though this has been ripped out at some point leaving glue and residue on the lid.
Restoration : The internal base has been relined
Weight : 80 grams

This style is generally associated with the earlier period of Tunbridge ware before the advent of tessalated mosaic wares. Fashions. however. come and go and there was a resurgence in the popularity of marquetry in the last quarter of the 19th century.
